For those interested in seeing Europe without the constant, hectic bustle of tourism, relaxing cruises on the Rhine River have proven to be a hit. In addition to a never-ending opportunity to learn to speak German, here is a list of several fun activities to partake in during a Rhine River cruise: Allstate: This town includes a medieval castle, a parish church dating to 1794, a historical museum, and numerous delicious restaurants. Glattfelden: Situated on the River Glatt just above its junction with the Rhine, this town is the hometown of Swiss writer Gottfried Keller and is frequently referred to in his novel “Der grĂ¼ne Heinrich.” Over an old stone bridge is the nearby old town of Eglisau. Rheinfelden: A little town of 7,000 inhabitants situated on the left bank of the river, Rheinfelden is home to a popular salt-water spa, ancient walls and towers, the Fricktaler Museum, and St. Martin’s Church, which dates back to the 15th century. There's no question that debt collection companies have a lot to deal with in the way of stress. Not only is acquiring money from debtors something of a challenge but sometimes trying to uncover said debtors can be an equally greater task. Even with all of the challenges that are set in front of them, collectors are, for the most part, professional and conduct their jobs well. What about those that act out irrationally and paint a negative picture for other collectors as a result?
A news story came about recently that detailed the immoral acts of a Minnesota-based debt collector that seized the savings of a disabled war veteran in the name of a defaulted student loan. There should be a sense of impartialness that comes when conducting any sort of debt-related case. This was clearly lost, however, as the war veteran's savings were illegally garnished. The situation might have been less tense if a strong company such as R.R.S. had been in control of the case but such was not the case here. Instead, this particular collector went on to verbally abuse the paralyzed war vet, showing a clear lack of professionalism as well as respect in a business that calls for both.
While I don't want to indulge in the rather gruesome details, the collector went so far as to use profanity to get what he wanted and wished death on him as well. This act clearly showcases an example of one crossing the line in a situation. Morally just debt companies are able to clear up situations concerning owed money with the utmost professionalism but why do some act differently? It's hard to say but when a collector acts out of line in a situation like this, it may be time to fire back.
I can't say if all cases involving debts have to be the fault of the collectors. On the contrary, debtors can become even more responsible for the cases at hand if they allow the problem to go on for too long. My uncle, to name one example, did not have the savvy to handle money well and he had one debt issue that seemed small at first. Instead of trying to work it out early, he let it build up too long and it wasn't long until he was faced with a debt-filled mountain only he could climb.
Working as a debt collector, you have to adhere to a wide yet solid set of rules. If a collector acts out of bounds, then there's no question that the debtor has the ability to come back with something greater. No collector has the authority to harass a debtor, whether physically or, in the case of the disabled war vet, verbally. This is not the way for a collector to conduct business and those who do business in the right way will, without question, suffer the most.
